Parafed Northland now has a Community Sport Advisor, Leesa Andrewes, who is keen to get sport and recreational opportunities happening in Northland.

We are currently focusing on supporting Boccia, Sailability, Wheelchair Basketball.

New programmes will include Swimming/Water experience, Gymnastics/Fundamental Skills

Experience a new sport days including Kiwi Park Golf, Wheelchair Basketball

Parafed Northland Objectives

Primary Purpose

To facilitate the development of Parafed Northland to be an organisation that caters for and supports people with physical and visual disabilities to be active in sport and recreation.


Key Tasks

To promote Parafed Northland as an effective and active organisation

To increase opportunities for Northlanders with physical and visual disabilities to participate in sport and recreation at all levels

To support initiatives to grow disabled sport and increase access to disabled sport in clubs and schools

To identify disabled people in the greater Northland region, and encourage them to become active participants in sport and recreational activities

To work with existing Parafed Northland members and teams to help further their ambitions in sporting and recreational activities

To increase the volunteer base and quality of coaches and officials for sports and leisure activities for Northlanders with physical and visual disabilities
